JURISDICTION:      Applications under this Canon shall be either:

applications for declaration of material status, or
applications for permission to remarry according to the rites of the Anglican Church of Canada,
admission to Holy Communion in special cases

“In every case where a person who has been remarried, except as provided above in the Canon, whose former and present partners are both living, desires a ruling with respect to admission to Holy Communion, the case must be referred by the incumbent to the bishop of the diocese for his judgement”.

THE HURON COMMISSION meets regularly on or about the fourth Thursday of each month.  Notice of change of date is usually given to the clergy of the Diocese.

PROCEDURES:

During the interviews with the parish priest the following forms should be completed (the forms are authorized by the National Executive Council of the Anglican Church of Canada).

1. a Declaration, to be signed by the applicants and the priest,

2. a Family Data Sheet - to be completed and signed by the applicants,

3. two Questionnaires:

one to be completed and signed by the male applicant,
one to be completed and signed by the female applicant,

  1. a report of the incumbent - to be completed and signed by the priest.

In the case of a marriage which was dissolved before 1st June 1986, the Decree Nisi and the Decree Absolute are required.  Since that date a Certificate of Divorce only is required.

In addition to the information sought on the questionnaires the Commission is concerned about the on-going pastoral relationship of the new family and their Christian growth and support.

A fee of $35.00 is required and underwrites the costs of the Commissions travel, phone, etc.

The above documents and fee are sent to:
