Albs have come into common usage as the present day cassock.  The following is a list of guidelines to follow:

A: ALB

i)          If it is a Choir Office, you do not wear a stole or a scarf.

ii)         For other services, you wear the appointed coloured stole, white, red, green, purple or blue.

iii)        It is permissible to wear a white stole for wedding and funeral services.


B: CASSOCK and SURPLICE

i)          If a Choir Office, you do not wear a stole but can wear a scarf.

ii)         A stole is worn in the event of a sacramental service:

a)         Sunday or weekday eucharist  - colour of the season or day
b)         Penance - purple
c)         Weddings, Baptisms - white
d)         Confirmations - red or white

iii)        In the event of a funeral service if wearing a cassock and surplice, add only a scarf.


C: EUCHARISTIC VESTMENTS


Should the priest own a chasuble of appropriate colour to the occasion, this may be worn.


D: COPES

Copes signify a festal occasion and as such may be worn for processions, weddings, funerals, baptisms and sometimes by the celebrant at the Eucharist.
