As the Pandemic and Emergency Planning Committee continues to do its work, good hygiene and infection control continues to be of major concern as an issue for all parishes to consider and review their activities. All those assisting in the distribution of communion should be sanitizing their hands prior to doing so (especially after the hand shaking at the peace). Recently Cathy Hodgins in Church House was able to get a good price on hand sanitizer dispensers for parishes.

Please be sure to read the product information for proper use of the hand sanitizer liquid as well as proper precautions with regards to WHMIS and access by children to the product.

You may simply wish to purchase the hand sanitizer pumps from grocery or drugs stores. When doing so, please ensure that they have a minimum alcohol content of 70% and that the sanitizer liquid is placed in each palm of the hand and the finger tips and nails are inserted in rubbed thoroughly with the product prior to rubbing it thoroughly on the rest of the hands. The fingertips and nails are a key location of germs.
