Preamble
The Compensation Committee is a sub-committee of the Human Resources Committee. The
Compensation Committee is the advocate for the clergy and lay staff employed by the Diocese or
congregations within the Diocese.


Terms of Reference

1. The Committee shall review issues related to the following:
- Minimum stipend
- Health and Dental Benefits
- Travel reimbursements
- Cash housing allowance
- Occasional service fees
- Retirement moving allowance
- Disability of licensed clergy
- Maternity/parental leave benefits
- Vacation allowance
- Continuing education allowance study leaves policy
- Sabbatical leave policy; and shall make recommendations to the Human Resources Committee.

The Compensation Committee may be given directions from time to time to examine such issues as reductions in costs and will provide the Human Resources Committee with the information so that the latter committee may make decisions within its mandate or make recommendations or motions to
Diocesan Council or Synod.


2. Membership shall consist of up to 5 lay and up to 5 clergy who shall be appointed by the
Diocesan Bishop annually.

3. Minutes will be distributed within 4 weeks following the meeting. Minutes will be
taken by a Member of the Church House staff.

4. Agenda items will be determined 2 weeks prior to the next meeting and communicated to
members.

5. The Committee shall each year review its operational policy within the Terms of
Reference given to it by the Human Resources Committee.

6. The Committee shall report to Synod annually through the HR Committee Report.

7. The Committee shall report to the Human Resources Committee.

8. The Committee shall make its budget request to the Human Resources Committee annually
by February 28th as part of the normal diocesan budget process.

9. Members shall be appointed to the Committee for a period of two years and may be
reappointed by the Bishop for a further 2 year term. Those who are not able to attend three
consecutive meetings shall automatically cease to be a member.

10. The Bishop shall appoint a chair for a 2 year term. The appointment is renewable for a
further two year term.
