Appointment and announcements, this being Epiphany Sunday, January 6 2008

1. The Rev’d Perry Chuipka, currently rector of St. John the Divine, Copper Cliff (Diocese of Algoma) is appointed rector of St. Paul’s-Trinity, Wingham; St. Peter’s, Lucknow; Trinity, Blyth and St. John’s Brussels effective the first of May.

2. On Sunday January 13 and Sunday January 20, Life and Faith (A Channel at 9:30 a.m.) will feature a full half hour of highlights from the 150th anniversary service at the John Labatt Centre, London. Please feel free to share this with your parish in case they wish to set their VCR’s.

3. Archdeacon Jane Humphreys was appointed Archdeacon of Essex, effective the first of January 2008. The service of collation will take place on Monday, the 14th of January, 2008 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Walkerville, Windsor. Clergy are welcome to vest the colour being white

4. Ted Winter will be ordained a deacon (non stipendiary) with special responsibilities for outreach ministry at St. James, Ingersoll. The ordination will take place on Thursday, Jan 31 at 7 p.m. at St. James, Ingersoll. (Presentation of the Lord – transferred). All are welcome. Clergy are welcome to vest the colour being red.

5. The Rev’d Victor Krueger-Kischak will be inducted as rector of Christ Church, Huntingford and Church of the Good Shepherd, Woodstock on Sunday February 3 (Presentation of the Lord – transferred) at 4 pm at Church of the Good Shepherd. Canon Bob Schroeder will be the preacher with Archdeacon Jim Sutton inducting Victor on behalf of the bishop. A reception will follow. All are welcome. Clergy are welcome to vest the colour being white.

January 13
Appointment and announcements, this being Sunday January 13, 2008, The Baptism of the Lord

1. Effective February 15 2008, the Rev’d France Ouimet-Wilson is appointed to the transitional ministry position at Trinity, Cambridge. This appointment is for a two year period. She is currently the rector of St. George’s, New Hamburg and Christ Church, Ayr

2. On Friday, February 29, 2008 (St. Matthias – transferred), an ordination will be held at The Cathedral Church of Saint Paul at 7 p.m.
The Rev’d Angela Brands (deacon in charge of Trinity, Bayfield and St. James, Middleton) and
The Rev’d Andrea Brennan (deacon in charge of St. Peter’s Dorchester);
will be called to ordination to the priesthood.
Brad Dunbar (lay pastor of Trivitt Memorial, Exeter and St. John by the Lake, Grand Bend (with oversight for St. Patrick’s, Saintsbury) and
Karine Farmer (lay pastor of Parish of the Holy Spirit)
will be called to the diaconate as deacons in charge (with potentially others to be named).
The Rev’d Allan Livingstone will be the preacher. Bishop Bruce Howe will be the ordinant. All are welcome. Clergy are welcome to vest, the colour being red. Please uphold Angela, Andrea, Brad and Karine in your prayers.

January 27
Appointment and announcements, this being Sunday January 27, 2008, the third Sunday after Epiphany

  1. David Giffen is appointed Assistant Curate, The Cathedral Church of Saint Paul, effective the first of March.   This will follow his ordination to the diaconate on the 29th of February. 

  2. On Friday, February 29, 2008 (St. David’s Day– transferred), an ordination will be held at The Cathedral Church of Saint Paul at 7 p.m.

    The Rev’d Andrea Brennan (deacon in charge of St. Peter’s Dorchester);  will be called to ordination to the priesthood. And named rectors.

The Rev’d Colin Pearce (half time rector of St. Barnabas, Windsor and half time rector of St. Andrew’s, LaSalle), will be inducted on Sunday Feb 10 at 7 p.m.  The service will take place at St. Andrew’s, LaSalle.   Archdeacon Jane Humphreys will induct Colin on behalf of the bishop.  The Rev’d Canon John McIllmurray will be the preacher.   Clergy are welcome to vest the colour being white.  All are welcome.  

6. The Rev’d Canon Stephen Haig (rector, St. George’s, Clarksburg), will be inducted as rector on Sunday February 17 at 4 p.m.   Archdeacon Jawn Kolohon will induct Canon Stepheon on behalf of the bishop.   The Reverend Deacon Liz Chaplin will be the preacher.  Clergy are welcome to vest the colour being white.  All are welcome.   

7. This year the Bishop’s Award for Excellence will be held on Sunday, November 2nd (The Octave of All Saints) at 5 pm (please  note the new time).  The service will be held at The Cathedral Church of Saint Paul.   Nomination forms are available at our web site:   www.diohuron.org  (Bishops Office section/forms) or  by contacting Kim in the Bishops’ Office at knorthcott@huron.anglican.ca  or 519 434 6893 ext 223.   (Please send all completed nomination forms to the respective Territorial Archdeacon, by June 1).
